Blacksmith Shop

The heat of the forge, the glow of red-hot metal and the clanging of the hammer – a blacksmith’s skills were essential to every early community. This part of history is preserved in our functional blacksmith shop.

The original portion of this building was used by Robert Mason as a blacksmith shop on his farm in Sarnia Township.  When it was relocated to the Museum, the walkway addition was added so that visitors could safely view demonstrations of the art of blacksmithing.
