"We're taking on water!"
These words are ones that strike fear in the hearts of those aboard ships. Unfortunately, wherever ships ply the waters, there are stories of shipwrecks to be remembered, and the Great Lakes are certainly no exception.
The Museum's collection of marine artefacts, as well as models, slides and a videotape are used to increase students' understanding of ships and shipwrecks. Topics include changes in ships over the years, duties of the crew, equipment and communication. A highlight of the program is the opportunity for students to dramatize for their classmates a shipwreck on the Great Lakes.
